Thanksgiving is a day in which many North Americans show their gratitude, especially to god. Thanksgiving is a day where families and friends have a special meal. The meal often includes a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables. Thanksgiving is a day where people gather together and give thanks for all of which they have. Thanksgiving has been celebrated every year since 1863, during the American Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens," to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November.
