Do Right

“Dare to do right.”
-Rex D. Pinegar

Moments ago Mr. Haymore read us a letter from an old friend of his. In the letter he talked about how he was dared to run across the street as a car was approaching and foolishly he accepted the dare and was hit by the car. He then talked about how it is foolish to accept any dare that ask you to do something your parents or teachers would disagree on. He told us, “Dare to do right.” meaning to only accept a dare that ask for something positive. An example of a bad dare can be when a friend dares you to juggle knives. This dare will only bring pain to you because if you mess up, you will be seriously injured. An example of daring to do right is when someone dares you to pass a test at school. This is a great dare because you should already be aiming at passing any test. You should not fall into peer pressure when your friends call you chicken when you don’t accept a dare that is wrong such as, being dared to smoke a cigarette and accepting the dare. Accepting bad dares will make you feel bad, accepting good dares will make you feel great.
