True Independence and Freedom

“True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what’s right.”
-Brigham Young

This quote said by Brigham Young is correct. If you do what is right all of the time, then you will be rewarded with all of the freedom you can have.
An example of this can be if you get an F on your report card. If you get an F, then you’ll most likely be grounded for not doing what’s right and failing that class. But, if you get straight A’s, your parents will see that you are a responsible person who deserves to have some freedom. Another example of this can be on how mature you are. Over time, you will be given more and more freedom as you grow up. That is why teens are allowed to go to parties with their friends unlike little kids, because they are not as mature.

The Truly Good

“They’re only truly great who are truly good.”
-George Chapman

This quote stated by the poet George Chapman is truthful in the sense that what he is saying is believable. If you are not truly good, then it seems as you are not truly great. First, you have to be good before you can be great. An example of this is when you are playing a sport. First you may be bad at it, but then you will get better and be good, and over time you will become great. This quote can be said for almost every single activity. Practice is what makes you great.

No Way

“Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn’t. In addition, using using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in a sport than a cheater. Don’t do it.”
-George Mitchell
This quote means that it doesn’t matter what you get now, it matters what happens later. You have to think about the future before you can make the right decision. If you cheat right now, you will fail later in life. If you take illegal drugs like steroids and other enhancement drugs, it will come back to haunt you in the future. An example of this with the athlete Neil Armstrong. He was one of the best known cyclist in the world. Then, it was found out that Neil was using steroids. Because of this, they stripped him of all of his trophies and medals he had won. This is why it is never right to do anything illegal as well as cheating.

Cheat

“I won’t cheat.”
-Dale Murphy

Dale Murphy is an extraordinary man while fantastic quotes and, this one is a neat one. The statement is bold and straightforward. He says that he will not cheat. The reason I like this quote is because he was honest and just said it out loud as a fact. Lots of people don’t cheat but, they don’t say it. Murphy Just says it with courage. An example of this can be on a test. You have to have the courage out of everyone in the classroom and tell yourself, “I won’t cheat.”.

Character Matters Most

“Character matters most.”
-Dale Murphy

This short but truthful  statement said by Dale Murphy is a really good quote. The reason I really like this quote is because it is true. You can be the richest person alive but, it is more important to have a great character. An example of this can be when you compare MLK with Hitler. Hitler was the leader of Nazi Germany, and even though him and his soldiers were conquering many other countries, he is less of a man compared to Martin Luther King Jr. The reason I say this is because, even though perhaps MLK left a smaller mark than Hitler, MLK was a peaceful and respectful man unlike Hitler who had millions killed under his leadership.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday adopted from Ireland that many Americans celebrate today. St. Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, The foremost patron saint of Ireland. We celebrate St. Patrick’s Day because it  celebrates the Roman Catholic feast day of  the patron saint of Ireland. We wear green on St. Patrick’s Day because it is associated with Catholics in Ireland.  Green ribbons have been warn on St. Patrick’s Day since the 1680s.

A Right Heart

“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”
-Benjamin Franklin

What this quote means is that, It doesn’t matter if you have the best looks or strength, it doesn’t matter if you are the richest man in the world, What truly matters is if you have your heart in the right place. An example of this can be the president Donald Trump. He might be one of the richest men in the world but it doesn’t matter because his heart is no in the right place. A homeless person can be a greater man than Trump. Another example of this is with charity donors.  They may not be the richest people but they are great people. This is because they give and don’t expect to get something in return. Another example of this are volunteer workers. They are better people than those stronger and richer than them. This is because volunteer workers give their time and effort to help others before themselves.

What We Do Today

“It may take a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today.”
-James Freeman Clarke

This quote said by James is really truthful statement. It may take years to make our character improve, but it only takes one to decrease it. An example of this is with Donald Trump. Before he ran for the 2016 election he wasn't really a person the majority of us don’t like. It only took him one day to be one of the most hated people in the world by an entire ethnic group.

The Best Way

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.”
-Charles Ketterer

This statement said by Charles Ketterer seems to me like one this down right truthful. Your future will only be as great as you think it will be as long as you put in the effort. If you don’t plan on having a great life then, you will not have one. You have to set a goal to have a great life and to anything to make that goal an accomplishment. An example of this can be while you are in school. If you plan on graduating High School and put in the effort, you will graduate. Another example of this quote can be with sports. If you want to be one of the best basketball players to ever live, you have to put in all your effort and try your best and you will do it. A non-example of this can be with a lazy person. They can set one of their goals to graduate from school but, if they do not do their  best then it is not likely that their dream will come true. Another non-example can be with a person with doubt. If they say can’t do something then just because they don’t believe in their self it will make it true.

Ask Yourself

“Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly.”
-Otto Graham

In this quote, Mr. Graham is giving all of us some great advice that we should take. Before we do anything we have to ask ourselves, is it right or wrong, then we have to act according to it. An example of this can be when your friends tell you to smoke a blunt. You have to ask yourself, is it right to be smoking tobacco, then act on the right side. Another example can be when you are home alone and you have a bunch of fun video games to play but, they are rated M for mature. Is it right to be playing games you are too young for even if nobody is around. You have to choose the right and know that it is wrong and not play them.

Act Well Your Part

“Act well your part; there all honor lies.”
-Alexander Pope

This quote is one no one really thinks about but, it is still true. When you act right you have honor, but when you choose the wrong you don’t have any honor. A non-example of this can be with the Jackie Robinson Little League Baseball Team of Illinois. They were one of the best teams in the world, in fact the second best team in the world. They were beaten by a team in South Korea. The only problem was that the Jackie Robinson team was no playing by the rules. They used players out of their district that qualified for the team. They did that illegally behind everyone's backs and because of that, the team was stripped from their championships and stripped from their title from second place world champions. This is why it is always better to play by the rules, at least you’ll have your honor.

Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities: This is a specialized area in the medical and health services. Their duties consist of overseeing staff and personnel, financial matters, medical care, medical supplies, facilities, and other responsibilities.

Reflection: I don't think I would like to have my career be a nursing home administrator, this is because I wouldn’t want to work with the elderly. Not only that but, this career seems like it would be a boring one.

You'll be taken care of

“If you do what’s right, if you live the right way, you’ll be taken care of.”
-Rachel Castillo

This statement said by Rachel seems pretty truthful. If you do what's right in life, then later on in life you’ll be taken care of. This young woman found $36,000 in cash in a bag at a golf course where she works at. She could have kept the money and no one would have ever known. She did the honest thing and called the police to turn the money in.

Neurosurgeon

Duties and Responsibilities: Neurosurgeons perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to remove tumors, relieve chronic pain, and treat wounds.
Salary: $395,000-$589,500
Education: 4 years of undergraduate school, after that they must have 4 years of medical school, then they must take 6-7 years of neurosurgical residency training.

Reflection: This career is pretty demanding and seems like a career only the really dedicated would take on. I don’t personally would like to have this career because, it requires many years of training and it calls for the best and most careful work. If you make one little accident, it can cause the life of your patient. Even though, the pay is extraordinarily great, it is still not a career I would like to pursuit.
