Class Evaluadtion

Some things I like about this class is the teacher. He is never mad and always telling us to choose the right, which is the best advice i've received  the whole year. Another thing I like about the class is the homework. It is simple and helps me keep track of my goals.

Somethings that I do not like about the class is that some people in here can be rude. Something else i don’t like about the class is that everyday we learn a new quote. I think one a week would be good enough.

Some recommendations I have to improve the class are to have more CTR card checks to make sure everyone has one, and also to review what the card says as a class once in awhile.

A highlight for me in this class is that I really like typing so I like this class because of that. Another highlight I have is that I learned to be a better and faster typer.

I tried to do my best in this class. Sometimes I would not do my Life Planning Journal because i’d forget about it. Other than that I believe I tried my best in this class. I always do my work and I don’t talk when the teachers talking. I also always pay attention when the teacher is speaking.

I am reading my Life Planning Journal almost everyday 5 minutes a day. Sometimes I don’t because I forget to. But, I usually do.

I am committed to be a CTR person. I’m committed because in this class I have learned that if you are a CTR person, you will be successful in life.

One Lie

“When you tell one lie, it leads to another”
-Paul Hatch

This a song song by Paul Hatch and he says that when you tell one lie, you’ll keep telling more and more. He says that when you tell so many lies you will eventually start to slip up because you can’t keep track of all the lies you have told. An example of this could easily be if your  parents ask you if you've done your homework any you say you have when you actually haven’t. If they ask what it was about you’ll start making up stories and you will create a spiderweb of lies you can't keep track of. Another example of this could be if you are being questioned by police men. If you lie to them about a crime you committed they will investigate on it and you will keep on worrying if they will find out.

The Sting of a Scorpion

When Patrick Kearon was a boy he went camping with his family. They told him that he always needed to wear shoes. One day Patrick decided to go for a little walk. But, he didn't want to put shoes on so he put flip flops instead. While he was walking along the desert he felt a stinging sensation on his foot. He thought that perhaps he has stepped on a thorn. When he looked down, he noticed that he had been stung by a scorpion. He could feel the pain going up his leg. He held his leg hoping to stop the flow of the poison and he screamed for help. His parents took him to the hospital and on the way there he thought that he was going to die. When he arrived to the hospital they told him, that specific scorpion's poison can only kill infants. From that day on Patrick learned that he should always take his parents advice.

Right

“Always do right.”
-Mark Twain

This quote said by none other than Mark Twain himself says to always do the right 100% of the time. An example of this could be to open the door for people, say please and thank you, and you could also say good morning and good afternoon to everyone you encounter throughout the day.Doing the right thing is always better than doing the wrong thing. Lots of people do the right thing most of the time when it should be done ALL the time.

World War II

World War II was the biggest was that the US fought in. It lasted from September 1st, 1939 thru September 2nd, 1945. Many countries fought in this war. It was a war that included Germany, Italy, and Japan against, Britain, France, Australia, Canada, China, and the United States of America. This ignoramus was took place in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific Ocean.
During the war, Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Germans, had 6-11 million Jews killed in concentration camps. This was the Holocaust. Another horrific event that happened during World War II was Pearl Harbor. In December 7th, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels, including 8 enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded.
The reason Japan surrendered to the US during World War II was because the US dropped an atomic bomb on them. In August 1945, the US Air Force dropped 2 atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They caused hundred of thousands of civilian casualties and were shortly followed by the surrender of Japan and the end of WWII. It was the first and only time that atomic bombs have been used in a war.

The 3 Questions

1. Can people trust me to do whats right?
2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
“If the answer to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail.”

-Lou Holtz
I believe that Lou Holtz is right. If you stick these 3 questions to your life, you will never do wrong. These are questions only CTR people think about. An example of this could be when someone is in school. They want to be trusted, they want to do their very best, and they want to be treated as they treat others.

Challenges Teens Face Today

There are many issues teens face today. These challenges are different than the ones your parents faced. Nowadays, bullying is a 24/7 thing due to the internet. Anyone in the entire world could be bullying you. Another issue teens face is sex. Sex is occurring more and more often. Kids are having sex at a younger and younger age. Drugs and alcohol is another challenge teens must face. From drugs and alcohol being from everywhere from movies to music. Grades are also a very strong issue. It is almost necessary to have a college degree now to land a desirable career. This of course puts lots of pressure and stress on teens.

One of the challenges that i am dealing with are my grades. Something that i am doing to improve on them is doing extra credit work.

Being a CTR person helps you deal with all sorts of challenges because when you only think about choosing the right nothing goes wrong.

You can help other teens overcome these challenges by just being their friends. You could give them help full advice or just be there for them and guide them the right path.

Physical Fitness

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.”
-John F. Kennedy

This quote by one of the most famous presidents of the United States, John F. Kennedy, Is trying to say that you can only reach the peak of intelligence when  you are physically fit. According to John F. Kennedy, we learned that you can only reach the peak of intelligence when  you are physically fit from the Greeks. An example of this could be to take well care of your body to keep it physically fit. One way you could do that is by exercising on a regular basis. Another way to stay physically fit is by being well nourished. When you eat healthy you will not gain fat which is unhealthy.

Kindness

“Kindness is the essence of greatness.”
-Joseph B. Wirthlin

This quote by Joseph B. Wirthlin is saying that Kindness is something that is needed to achieve greatness. Without it, you can never truly be great. Kindness is a habit that you pick up just like any other habit. The more you do kind things, the easier they seem to be occurring. An example of this could be opening a door for someone. Another example of kindness could be saying hi or hello or even saying good morning or good afternoon to people you encounter throughout the day.

Thanksgiving week

During my thanksgiving week I didn’t do much. One of the first thing I did was go to my cousins house. My cousins live in The San Fernando Valley so it took about 1 hour to get there due to traffic. After staying there for 3 days I came back home. The next days leading up to thanksgiving I didn’t do much. All I did was watch a few movies at home. On thanksgiving day I went to my uncle's house. He lives 1 block away so we walked there. I hung out with my cousins and we played video games. We ate turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and corn. The next day I did my homework. All I had to do was my goals journal and a few sections for geometry.

Don't do it Don't say it

“If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it.”
-Marcus Aurelius

If you see someone ditching class or cheating on a test and you know it is not right, do not do it. If you hear someone telling a lie and you know it is not true, do not say it. This is a quote that can help you be a CTR person in the long run. If you choose to live your life according to this quote, then it will guarantee that you will have a good name. When you have a good name you are trustworthy.

Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is a day in which many North Americans show their gratitude, especially to god. Thanksgiving is a day where families and friends have a special meal. The meal often includes a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables. Thanksgiving is a day where people gather together and give thanks for all of which they have. Thanksgiving has been celebrated every year since 1863, during the American Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens," to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November.

Doing what is right

“Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing.”
-Chick Moorman

This quote by Mr. Moorman is one everyone should live their life by. He teaches us that is more important to be a CTR person other than winning or losing. One of the reasons that i agree with this quote is because it is more important to have a good name than to win. You can win a game but, if it means that you have to do something that isn’t right then it’s not worth it.

Honesty

“Honesty is the best policy.”
-Mark Twain

This quote by Mark Twain is truly remarkable. This quote demonstrates how important it is to be honest. When you are not honest you give yourself a bad name. If you lie, you will be known as a liar. It is important to live an honest life. When you are honest people will know that they could trust you because you are not a liar. You will make a good name for yourself if you live your life to this quote.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I. Veterans Day is celebrated on the 11th of November. It is a holiday that serves as a reminder of the end of World War I. it is important to show honor on veterans day because thousands of people died fighting for our nation and we want to show the respect they deserve. There are many ways to show our respect to  veterans on veterans day. We could say thank you and salute them, we could hang our flags high, ect.

Reflection: I think Veterans Day is a great holiday. Veterans deserve a day dedicated to them. Veterans don’t usually get the  appreciation they deserve, but Veterans Day makes sure to make the day all about them.

The 3 magic keys

“These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity:
  1. Have the courage to say no.
  2. Have the courage to face the truth.
  3. Do the right thing because it is right.”
-W. Clement Stone

This quote said by Mr.Stone is a great and true statement. The way to live a great life with integrity is by following the 3 steps also referred as the magic keys to living your life with integrity. If you don’t have the courage to say no, people will take advantage of you and might force you to do things that you know are bad. The second magic key is to accept and face the truth. If you are not able to face the truth you’ll just run away from your problems. The third and final magic key is to do the right thing because it is right. This magic key is the most important one of all. If you don’t do the right thing than you are not a CTR person.

Shall be wise

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
-Proverbs 13:20

This quote is trying to that that you will become like those you hang out with.  An example of this is in the quote itself. When you hang around with wise men/smart people, you will become wise/smart. Another example is if you hangout with bad people who ditch school and do drugs, you too will eventually also ditch school and do drugs. This quote is warning you that if you hangout with bad people, you too will become bad. So the best thing to do is to hangout with smart people so you too will become smart.

Gainesville Tornadoes

What happened in the video we just watched was about a basketball team that was made up of juvenile delinquents. They didn’t have any fans at all. But, when they played against a prep school, they had lots of fans cheering them on. This was a great example of choosing the right. The fans of the juveniles were told to cheer for them because they didn't have any fans. For the juveniles this was a great experience. They said that they will never forget that moment.

To do good

“The best recreation is to do good”
-William Penn

This quote by William Penn says that the best way to re create yourself, hence recreation, is by doing good. To someone who has never heard this quote before, this could mean a lot of things. One example of this could be opening the door for others. Another example could be being respectful to everyone you encounter. One non example of this could be, being disrespectful. There are many ways that you can recreate yourself, but the best to do that is by  doing good.

Always

“Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it.”
-William Penn
This quote by William Penn is a very true statement. Right is always right and wrong is always wrong. An example of this can be when you are on the freeway. Just because everyone else is going 10 miles above the speed limit, that doesn't make it right. Another example of this can be to not fall to peer pressure. All of your friends might think that it is “cool” to smoke and do drugs, but just because everyone thinks that it doesn’t make it right. This quote should be told to everyone so they could know to always choose the right.

Don't Sacrifice

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often."
Image result for peter vidmar
-Peter Vidmar
This quote by Peter Vidmar is saying that you shouldn't sacrifice what you most desire for what you want now. An example of this can be with passing a test. You might want to get a 100% on your test but you also might want to go hang out with your friends at the park. You shouldn't sacrifice not getting a 100% just to go go hang out with your friends. He also said to write down what you most desire and to see it often. He means to write down your goals and read it every day. The more you see it the better the chances of you completing your goal get. Peter wrote down his goal which was to be in the olympics and he read that to himself every day and because of that and how hard he tried and his determination is why his dream came true.

Homecoming

Homecoming is an annual tradition in the US. It usually occurs in September or October. It is when people, towns, high schools, and colleges come together.
Homecoming started with a football game between between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Missouri Tigers. They played a game and tied, then after that they had a spirit rally then they had a bonfire which made it a huge success. Then after that everyone across the country started to do the same which created homecoming.
We celebrate homecoming at our school just to keep up the tradition which started over 100 years ago.
Some of the events that take place during homecoming are pep rallies, then there is the football game, and after that there is the homecoming dance.
It is called the homecoming game because when the Kansas Jayhawks and the Missouri Tigers had their game the Missouri Tigers told the Kansas Jayhawks to “come home”.

A Good Name

“A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life”
-Mike krzyzewski

This quote said by coach K is truly remarkable. He says that it is better to have a good name than any achievements you have. An example can be during any sort of competition. It is better to win fair and square than to people know you as the cheater. So, it is better to lose with a good name than to win with a bad one.

Global Opportunities

One country i would like to go to work in while in the medical field would be Jamica. I chose this country be cause it looks like a great country with a whole different society than the USA. I would like to work as a pharmacist while in that country. I would choose to be a pharmacist there because a pharmacist job seems less stressful than to be a heart surgeon.

The second country i would like to work in while being in the medical career would be Germany. I choose Germany because i have always wanted to go there. I would work as a pediatrics. I chose this career because it just seems like something simple to do and i won’t stress over it.

Choosing a good name

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.”
Proverbs 22:1

What this quote is saying is that it is better to have people see you as a good person other than to be rich. An example of this could be when you are in school. If you choose to have a good name everyone will admire you and want to be your friend and respect you. But, if you choose riches over a good name no one will want to be around you because they know you are not a good person. If you don’t have a good name you don’t deserve the riches. Another example can be when you're applying to college. If they see that you don’t have a good name then they most likely won't want you in their school because of your bad name ad reputation. When you have a good name you will eventually get riches, but you will still need to have a good name or else you may lose it all.

Right

"If your so-called friends urge you to do anything you know to be wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow."
Image result for thomas s monson
-Thomas S. Monson

This is a truly inspirational quote. This quote by Thomas S. Monson is telling the reader that if you know that something your friends are doing is wrong, be the one to stand up and say something. An example of this can be during a party. If your friends are drinking alcohol and they encourage you to drink some, have the courage to say no. Another example can be if your friends are skipping school. Don't let peer pressure overcome you. Wrong is wrong even though everyone one does it. Right is right even if everyone disagrees.
