10 Native-American Commands

  1. Treat the Earth and all that dwells therein with respect
  2. Reman close to the Great Spirit
  3. Show great respect to your fellow beings
  4. Work together for the benefit of all mankind
  5. Give assistance and kindness whenever needed
  6. Do what you know to be right
  7. Look after the well-being of mind and body
  8. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good
  9. Be truthful and honest at all time
  10. Take full responsibility for your actions
There are 10 Native-American commandments like there are 10 in the Bible. Many of the Native-Americans commandments have to do with respecting and helping others. These 10 commandments seem to be really inspiring and I believe we should all follow them nowadays. The reasoning behind this is because they all seem as if that you follow them, life would be better. An example of this can be when you are at the store and see someone drop their wallet without realizing it. Many people might choose to take it without thinking twice. But, if these are some of the commandments we live by, we might not feel so right about taking it. Another example on why living by these commandments would be good is because we wouldn't be polluting the world so much. Many people care about the Earth and want to help fight against pollution. But, we live in a time of age where pollution isn't something we could stop so easily. There are many factories that pollute a lot to give us things we want like cars and phones and electricity. But, if we lived by these rules we would be more focused on finding clean ways on how to make electricity.

A Promise

“A promise must never be broken.”
-Alexander Hamilton

When you say that you are going to say something you must do it. When you say that you're going to do something, whether or not you said promise, it’s still a promise. When you break a promise, you are breaking your word. You will feel disappointed if a friend was to break a promise so you shouldn’t break your promises either. An example of this can be when your friend promises that they will not spread your secret. If they were to break their promise and tell everyone about it, you will definitely be disappointed in your friend. If you don’t like it when people break promises they make with you then you should also keep your promises and be loyal to your word.

Goodness

“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”
-Henry David Thoreau

This quote means that you can invest all of your goodness and it will not fail on you. There are lots of ways you can invest in something. You can invest with time and money, but when you invest with these 2, you will not get them back. It is also never guaranteed that the investment will work out in your favor. But when you invest with goodness, you are not loosing anything. In fact, you are more likely to succeed if you invest with your goodness.

They're Right

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”
-Theodore hesburgh

This quote said by the former president of Notre Dame in truthful in the sense on how we should make our decisions. Nowadays everyone is just doing what their friends are doing, regardless if it's right or wrong. This is never the right way to make a choice. We should always make our decisions based on what is right. An example of this can be when your friends are doing something bad and invite you to join in. You should make the right choice and not follow in their path. Another thing the quote is stating is that we should not make choices based on what everyone else is choosing. We should make the right choice 100% of the time because at the end of the day, that bad decision you make will come back to get you.

Sound & Good

“It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound”
-Joseph Smith
This quote by Mr.Smith is one to live by. The quote is saying that it is our job as the people to make the right choice the popular choice. We should be the ones that make the good choice sound like the great choice. As Well as making the bad choice the not so popular choice. This is important because if the good choice is more popular than the bad choice, then people are more likely to choose the good choice over the bad one.

Spring Break Days

I had a fun time when I was at my cousin's house because we got to hang out.

Be True

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”
-Abraham Lincoln

This quote said by the former president of the United States in pretty truthful. I believe that this quote might have been one of the reasons why he won the presidential election. He is saying that even though he might not be destined to win, he is destined to tell the truth and be truthful with everybody. In this quote he saying that bhe will be with anybody who is doing right. Yet, he also says that once that person does wrong he will leave. I believe we should all be like this. If we stand with people that do right, then we will do right. But, if we stand with people that do wrong, then we will do wrong.

Character

“Character is higher than intellect.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote means that even though you may be smarter than someone else, they can still be a better person than you if their character is better than yours. Another example of this can Donald Trump. He may be richer than many of us but, the fact that he’s racist makes him a hollow person. Even homeless people can be richer than him in character. It is better to be poor in currency than to be poor in character.

Trust

“I trust that my hard work will pay off.”
Tyler Haws
What this quote is self explanatory. It is saying that all the time and effort you put in, it will pay off. An example of this can be graduating high school. When you work hard to graduate from high school, it is destined to pay off. When you sacrifice a night to study instead of going out with friends, it will pay off in the long run. Another example of this can be in a sport. The harder you work for your goals, the higher the chance you have to accomplish them.
