Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer. He was born in 1451. He found America in 1492. He started his volage with 3 ships. The 3 ships consisted of The Nina, The pinta, and The Santa Maria. Columbus was trying to find a shorter route to India and he found himself in America. He also landed on South America and other countries near by, but discovering America is what he's best known for.
We celebrate Columbus day because Christopher Columbus discovered America on that day we celebrate it on.
